Baja Wild Sanctuary

A world of living coral reefs, an oasis of rich biodiversity. On the Sea of Cortez side of Baja California Sur lies the largest living coral reef in western North America, a marine protected area that represents one of the most impressive successes in ocean conservation. It was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site to protect the more than 800 species of marine animals that rely on healthy reefs. Along the west coast of the Baja peninsula lies Magdalena Bay, a magnificent wetland ecosystem where gigantic bait balls congregate off shore, and gray whales nurse and raise their young during the winter months.
